| Description: Phil Graham : The three Bruce funerals and the legacy of his local memorials in West Dunbartonshire. Phil returns this time with a look at Robert the Bruce and with particular reference to his time around our area. Phil’s personal hands-on and direct approach to history leads him to explore the local landscape for clues of past lives. Robert the Bruce retired to the banks of the River Leven just up rfom where it flows into the Clyde. When he died at his Mains of Cardross near present day Renton, his viscera was buried in St Serfs church In Levengrove Park. (His body in Dumfermline Abbey and his heart in Melrose Abbey, having not reahed Jerusalem). Venue: old council chamber in the Municipal Buildings in Dumbarton (near Dumbarton Central Station) at 7:30pm |
