Topic : Finest story by Nigel Tranter -Book Review of Nestor the Monster

 Hi,

I read a very fine story Called as Nestor the Monster by famous writer of Scottish history Nigel Tranter I want to share this with your guys.

This is finest story written by Nigel Tranter He Historical Novelist, Children's Writer and writer on the Scottish countryside and architecture. This is very nice story of hunt of monster believesKen Rutherford believes in the Loch Ness Monster, and what's more, he believes he can find it. While on holiday with his parents he sets out to do just that. He needs the help of his friend Fiona MacBride if he's going to have any chance of success, and when she agrees to come along, the hunt for the monster is on. But Ken and Fiona soon discover that they are not the only ones searching the dark waters of Loch Ness, and their rivals will stop at nothing to win the race to find the mysterious Loch Ness Monster.

The first thing you notice about Jan Moffat work is that narrated a story– that is he has a clear, distinctive voice that conveys what he wants to say in an original and arresting way. There are plenty of novelists who can’t do this. They have virtues as writers and style is not among them. This is one hour fifty six minutes story. I enjoyed it very much.

 Nestor the Monster,Scottish history

 Hi,

The story “Bonnie Prince Charlie and the 45 is finest story of Scotland history Narrated by Michael Elder. This audio book is very clearly understandable and adopted an interesting story telling style which creates an interest in a story which is based on subject like history. This is story about a young prince. In the ancient Scotland’s most prestigious and famous prince whose life is full of romance and tragic moments. This is the motivational, inspiring and fast-moving story of a young prince, Charles Edward Stewart, and his audacious bid for the crown of King George.  This book he narration is first rate and well paced. Michael Elder does an incredible job of bringing this greatest story to life.

We’re trying to find out what customs and traditions are still practiced today relating to weddings and romance or courtin’(and much more). Brides wear something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and we still have ‘Hen Nights’, but what specifically Scottish customs and traditions are still being practised in different areas?  What’s supposed to bring good luck and bad to a marriage? Do different trades or industries still do unmentionable things to a lad about to get wed before the big day? Still any chance o’ a scramble, or poor-oot for the we’ans (or the bairns)?

This is the sort of ‘live’ information we need for a new online record of the customs, traditions, sayings, beliefs, superstitions and celebrations being carried out by folks living in Scotland today!

Who are we? We’re the Intangible Cultural Heritage Wiki – bit of a mouthful, but it will be yours to add information to soon . . . watch out for details on how, and in the meantime, tell us what goes on in your neck o the woods, or go to www.ichscotland.org

I represent the Lennox Heritage Society based in Dumbarton and covering the Vale of Leven to Old Kilpatrick. It is really only through conferences and functions that we get to know of what other groups are doing even in the same area. It would be great to have the programmes of the various groups (as already in the journal and others), on this site with contact details, so that we can share views and information.

We have talks on the evening of the 3rd week of the month from October through to April. It is nearly the end of that for this season, but here are the next topics:

Wednesday, April 21st Bob Green : The story of the Maid of the Loch. Bob takes us through the history of the paddle steamer and the many years the Trust has been working to restore it. We all know the Maid. Now hopefully nearing its return to the open water, we are given insight into its story. This is a prominent feature on Loch Lomond.

The Lennox Heritage Society AGM will precede this talk.
