Grantown 250 Festival 2016

Wednesday 22 June : Architecture and Planning
Celebrate and enjoy one of Scotland’s best preserved and most interesting 18th Century Planned Towns with a Photographic Exhibition, Architecture, and Planning walks and talks and a Conservation Area Workshop.

Thursday 23 June: Heritage and Culture
In this year of Architecture Planning and Innovation, explore some of the planned villages of Moray: Tomintoul, Dufftown, Aberlour and Archiestown. Relax, later, with some of Strathspey’s talented musicians.

Friday 24 June: Georgian Day
This day Grantown’s High Street puts on its Georgian and Victorian finery with decorated shops, costumed shopkeepers, music and street theatre. Learn about traditional crafts and skills and later be ready to party with a costumed disco or the Georgian Country Ball.

Saturday 25 June: Regality Day
The day starts with the “Fiddler of Strathspey” festival celebrating the music of Angus Cumming. In the afternoon join the crowds at Old Grantown and the Regality Procession – or visit Piping at Forres. For the evening get a ticket for the Highland Premiere of Hamish Napier’s Celtic Connections composition “The River”.

Sunday 26 June: Fairs Day
Following an interdenominational Church Service in the Square, help celebrate in style the 250th anniversary of the first Figgat Fair in New Grantown with stalls, music, competitions and dance followed by Music for a Summer’s Evening in the Square.
