About this Organisation

High quality, free, fun public and school library services for Shetland.

The central library in Lerwick has free broadband and Wi-fi computer access available for all. Printing, photocopying and scanning facilities are also available.

Members can borrow books, DVDs, music and ebooks. Customers can also access our 24 Hour Library resources from home, which includes the library catalogue, free digital encyclopedias, dictionaries and Driving Theory practice. Full membership is available to residents of Shetland. Vistors to the isles can sign-up for a limited allowance membership.

We also deliver Bookbug, the Scottish Government's early year literacy programme, run 7 school libraries, a mobile library and a range of reading promotions for children and adults. Look out also for our frequent events including book launches.

Check our website for a lot more information about us, or to search our catalogue or borrow ebooks.
