Tasglann nan Eilean (Hebridean Archives)

About this Organisation

Tasglann nan Eilean is the archive service of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council). We are responsible for the historical records of the Comhairle and its predecessors, as well as those of other organisations and individuals connected to the Outer Hebrides which have been gifted or deposited, covering all facets of the islands' history.

The Heritage Service is also responsible for Hebridean Connections, a website resource containing thousands of records relating to the genealogy, history, traditions and culture of the Outer Hebrides. The material is mostly drawn from the archives of local historical societies (Comainn Eachdraidh) and other member organisations.
