The Ireland & Scotland Itinerary Reality Checker is a free online heritage travel and research planning tool developed by Irish Scottish Roots. It helps family historians, local history researchers, clan descendants, and heritage visitors plan realistic research trips to Scotland and Ireland.

The tool allows users to organise a day-by-day itinerary, identify overnight bases, arrange visits to ancestral locations, archives, genealogy centres, historical sites, museums, and other places of interest, and evaluate whether sufficient time has been allocated for travel and research.

Features include:

- Day-by-day itinerary planning with multiple destinations.
- Travel-time and daily scheduling assessments.
- Estimated driving legs and route maps.
- Identification of potentially overcrowded travel days.
- Options to revise individual days and share itineraries with travelling companions.

For Scottish local history researchers, the checker can help organise visits to archives, local history centres, ancestral parishes, historic buildings, clan territories, and heritage sites throughout Scotland.

The tool is available online without charge. It is a planning aid rather than an official travel or archival information service. Users should independently confirm opening hours, research appointments, transport arrangements, and access requirements.
