SLHF will be hosting a conference on Popular Protest in a Scottish Local History Context on Saturday, 25 October 2025 at The Wynd Centre, School Wynd, Paisley PA1 2DB.

Speakers include:

Tom Dowds - The Trials of the Paisley Radicals in 1820

Prof Christopher Whatley - Harvie's Dyke, Glasgow: People, Protest and Place

Dr Phil Back - “There’s going to be an outrage and we’re going to start it!” Protesting the M77 at Pollok in the 1990s

Dr Juliette Desportes - Landscapes of Protest: Rural Resistance in the Highlands and Islands, 1750-1820

Prof Iain Robertson - The Later Highland Land Wars and the Micro-geographies of Protest
