Event Details

Grantown is an attractive eighteenth century planned town in the very heart of the Highlands.

The Grantown 250 Project (1765 - 2015), coordinated by the Grantown Society, is designed to provide a significant boost to the local economy and leave a lasting legacy.

The Project will involve the whole community in a week-long festival showcasing the history and attractions of this unique community as well as the wider Highlands. There will be special exhibitions, an historical conference, an historic pub crawl and quiz night, walking and cycling, heritage and environment trails, re-enactments, a music hub in the Victorian institute, sporting events, the historic "Figgat Fair", church services, festival of flowers, fashion show, traditional food fayre and a final "Foundation Day Picnic in the Square". Throughout the week many will be dressed in period Georgian costume. There is also a plan to replace Grantown's mercat cross which mysteriously disappeared many years ago.

Sponsorship is sought from individuals, business and groups.
