Prof.David Purdie will describe and discuss the biography of Sir Walter Scott, and his contribution to poetry, biography and historical fiction, beginning with Waverley. His biography of Napolean Bonaparte will feature, together with his autobiography as described in his Journal, edited by Sir Eric Anderson. Also covered will be his contribution to Scottish life and letters in general, specifically his conservation of our State Papers.
