David will attempt to briefly describe in words and pictures, some of the considerable variety of music that has been played, sung, marched to, danced to and performed in the Stewartry of Kirkcudbright since the mid 19th century. His sources consist of some historical research, supplemented by his own experience and delving into archives kept by other members of his family, over a period of about 90 years. The account he will give will be very personal and non-academic, but will hopefully provide something of interest to everyone, with perhaps a few surprises.
