The Scottish Archaeological Forum (SAF) is delighted to deliver a hybrid conference at the University of Aberdeen on the 28th to 29th October 2023.

Through the theme of ‘Insiders and Outsiders in Scottish Archaeology’ we aim to highlight efforts to address the under-representation of certain groups within archaeology, both in representations of Scotland’s heritage and in current archaeological practice. While archaeological evidence shows Scotland’s past to have always been one of multiple communities, there is an increasing awareness of inequality remaining within modern archaeological discourse. We are keen to explore initiatives which challenge pre-conceptions, spotlight marginal voices, and aim to make Scottish archaeology more accessible to the wider community.

Tickets are available to attend the conference either in person or online. In-person tickets cover attendance for the weekend and include lunch and teas/coffees on both days.

Alongside the talks, there will also be poster presentations from researchers, and stalls from Historic Environment Scotland, the Scottish Archaeological Research Framework and Aberdeen Archives, Gallery and Museums.
