Event Details

Fiona Watson is a Scottish historian and television presenter. She presented the 2001 BBC series In Search of Scotland.

Having spent over thirty years researching and writing traditional history, mostly focused on medieval Scotland, Dr Fiona Watson has turned her hand to writing historical fiction for the first time. Inspired by a wealth of material she couldn't use in her non-fiction, she has spun a murder mystery out of the fraught experience of those left in Berwick-upon-Tweed, the only English-held town in Scotland after Bannockburn. Fiona discusses the rewards and difficulties in swapping straight History for fiction and reads extracts from her book, Dark Hunter, which will be published by Birlinn next year.
