Event Details

John de Vere Loder's book 'Colonsay and Oronsay in the Isles of Argyll' was published in 1935, eighty years ago. It remains an indispensable source of historical and archaeological information. The Colonsay and Oransay Heritage Trust is holding a workshop on 27 June 2015 to discuss the significance of Loder's work, and to consider how later work has modified and extended his understanding of the island's history.

We invite friends of the island, and those who have an interest in the history of the region, to take part in the workshop and to contribute their own viewpoints and research. The format will be informal and detailed arrangements will develop out of the response to this invitation.

The workshop will be held in the Community Hall on Colonsay (close to the Cal Mac terminal) on Saturday 27 June so that it is possible to come to the island for the afternoon and return to the mainland the same evening.
