About

The Society was formed in 1977 to promote family history in the former Strathclyde Region of the west of Scotland. Currently there are are about 1500 members worldwide. The Society has a Reasearch Centre in Partick, Glasgow which is open to the public for a nominal charge. There is a an extensive library of books and digital media. A journal is published three times a year for members. The Society also maintains a website so members can easily access information. Public meetings are also held from September to May, where speakers give talks on a variety of topics relating to family history
