About the speaker:
Iain was a latecomer to studying archaeology, which has been a life-long interest. A career in business development, training and systems administration was combined with 30 years’ service in the Royal Naval Reserve. Returning to Glasgow in 2008, he completed an MA in Archaeology at the University of Glasgow in 2015, followed by a Masters.
A visit to Crookston castle in 2014 led to a “lightbulb moment” when he found some masons’ marks, which was the subject of his Research Masters.
In addition to designing training courses for heritage organisations, he is Convenor of Langside Community Heritage and Director of the Scottish Stonemasons Marks Project.
