Commedia
About this Organisation
Community media organisation based in Edinburgh.
This was the trading name I used from 1984 when I first became self-employed in making videos with community groups around Lothian. When I stopped being self-employed I set up the Film & Video Access Centre in 1986, an organisation which provided training and access to film and video-makers in Edinburgh. In 1993 I also set up Young People Speak Out, an outreach organisation running video projects across Lothian with disadvantaged young people. Both Film & Video Access Centre and Young People Speak Out closed in 2005, after I departed to work as Regeneration Officer at Edinburgh City Council.

| An Asian Family in Ediniburgh |
This video came from a slide-tape made with Akbal Singh who had a shop in Gorgie back in 1985. The film “An Asian Family in Edinburgh” took two years to make and was funded out of the Producer's pocket. Later the Council used it in schools for multicultural education.
