Event Details
The Tartan Treasures Competition is organised by Angus Council and is part of the annual Tartan Day Scotland Festival, which celebrates Scotland and the Scots and this year runs from 3 – 12 April. The competition is for non-published writers of all ages, with categories for under 16s and over 16s.
As the theme of this year’s competition is ‘Dear Diary…’, entries are to take the format of a page from a diary - real or fictional - recalling a place, a time, an occasion or a person with a connection to Scotland, with a word limit of 200-400 words for the under 16 category and 400-800 words for the over-16 category.
The competition is now open and, following the 20 February closing date, a shortlist will be drawn up and considered by a panel of three judges, including the Provost of Angus, Cllr Helen Oswald.
The winning entry from each category will be announced at a special prizegiving ceremony during the Tartan Day Scotland Festival, when the winner of the under 16 category will receive a Kindle Fire tablet, while the winner of the 16 and over category will receive a dinner, bed and breakfast voucher for Carnoustie Golf Hotel. In addition, the winning diary entries will appear on the Tartan Day Scotland website and Facebook page.
The closing date for entries to the Tartan Treasures Competition 2015 is 20 February, 2015. For more information, and to download an entry form, visit www.tartandayscotland.com/treasures or pick up a Tartan Treasures Competition leaflet at libraries, museums and ACCESS offices across Angus.
