Scotland Genealogy Resources is a free online research guide published by Irish Scottish Roots to help family historians, local history researchers, and descendants of Scottish emigrants identify and investigate their Scottish ancestors.

The guide explains how to research Scottish family history using statutory birth, marriage and death records, census returns, Old Parish Registers, valuation rolls, wills, historical maps, and local archives.

It introduces important research services, including ScotlandsPeople and the National Records of Scotland, and explains how to approach research using Scottish parishes, counties, burghs, and other historical locations.

The resource provides a practical research sequence, beginning with verified family records and extending to local history collections and historical geography.

It is designed for beginners and experienced researchers who want to locate reliable documentary evidence, understand the places where their ancestors lived, and identify appropriate archival collections for further investigation.

The guide is available online without charge. Some external record providers may charge for access to original documents.
