Maps and ‘The Three Rs’: Rescue, Revelation and Research relating to early maps of Scotland

This day seminar brings together a range of talks from those who have been recently working on projects relating to early maps of Scotland. The morning will be particularly devoted to local and community mapping projects that have made maps newly available for research, including rescue and digitisation initiatives. During the lunch break, there will be a tour and display of early maps in Perth and Kinross Archives. The afternoon will showcase a recent map restoration project, as well as several ongoing research activities, including work on the Stevenson civil engineering plans, on Scottish lime kilns, and on the automatic extraction of features from historic maps.

The day will include morning coffee and a buffet lunch, with good opportunities for questions and discussion on the papers with the speakers and others present.
